VMI was created in response to a need. As a pioneer in the mobility vehicle industry, VMI began when its original founders were challenged to build a better wheelchair accessible vehicle for a close family friend. This endeavor was so successful, they later applied this innovative technology to a Chrysler minivan, and officially introduced the first wheelchair-accessible minivan in 1987.
EZ-ACCESS®, a division of Homecare Products Inc., was founded in 1984 by Glenda Everard and her daughter, Deanne Sandvold. In 1988, son Don Everard joined the family business, bringing with him marketing expertise. Pioneers in the accessibility industry through the marketing and manufacturing of EZ-ACCESS portable wheelchair ramps, they are all about accessibility and serve the nation with a wide variety of access solutions.
